Slides (in MS PPT format): The Future of Mobile & Wireless

Mobile and wireless is quickly becoming the most important new business after the creation of the Internet. Dr. Purdy talks about how the Information Age is different from the Industrial Revolution and then discusses the major trends in mobile and wireless that will lead it to become bigger than the Internet. There are a number of paradigm shifts going on right now from proprietary to Internet-based networks, use of IP as the standard transport, development of new networks like Wi-Fi and WiMAX and (finally) the ability for companies to become successful financially with wireless data. These are turbulent times in mobile & wireless but also times in which great opportunities are available to those who capitalize on the paradigm shifts.
