About the Speaker:
Distinguished engineer Adrian Cockcroft recently joined eBay, Inc. in a leading
role with the rapidly growing team responsible for the performance and availability
architecture of eBay site operations. The eBay.com site is already one of the
largest in the world and its high growth rate and rapid rate of change provides
a unique challenge for Adrian, well known as a world class expert in scalability,
performance, and capacity planning tools and techniques.
Adrian was previously with Sun Microsystems Inc. for 16 years, where he authored two editions of the definitive textbook "Sun Performance and Tuning: Java and the Internet" in 1995 and 1998, and co-authored Sun Blueprint books on "Resource Management" and "Capacity Planning for Internet Services". Most recently Adrian was Chief Architect for Sun's High Performance Technical Computing group, responsible for the Sun Reference Architecture for Grid Infrastructure Solutions.
