Introduction to Enterprise JavaBeans
Programming and Architecute

A Professional Development Seminar

Santa Clara University

El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA
Daly Science Center 207

Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Overview:
Enterprise JavaBeans are Sun's Java based solution to the problem of developing distributed enterprise systems. They form a middleware foundation on top of which developers can build their application while focussing on their business problem, and not on the implementation and deployment details.

This talk will provide an in-depth introduction to the problems which EJB attempts to address, and the details of writing EJB's. We will first cover an introductory overview about the technology, and then go in depth into the more programmatic details.

Speaker

James Kao
The Middleware Company

James Kao is a Vice-President of The Middleware Company, a training and consulting company specializing in Enterprise JavaBeans, the Java 2 Enterprise Edition, and Java/XML technologies. He has trained developers and jumpstarted projects in these technologies at many companies ranging from startups in the Valley to large Fortune 500 companies. He earned both his undergraduate and Master of Engineering degrees from Cornell University and currently lives in Palo Alto.

Prerequisites:
To get the most out of the seminar, knowledge of Java programming is essential. Additionally, knowledge of Java RMI (Remote Method Invocation) and JNDI (Java Naming and Directory Interface) is helpful.
